Casa Colibrí

Stay at our rural house in Cantabria, ideal for nature and tranquillity getaways.

An authentic rural house in Cantabria

Hello! We are Claire and Guillermo. We would like to welcome you to Casa Colibrí, one of the stone cottages that make up the historic village of Rodezas. Just 4 km from the impressive redwood forest of Monte Cabezón and less than 20 minutes by car from some of the most outstanding natural areas and crystal-clear beaches in the north, you can enjoy a wide variety of activities.

Ideal for families, groups of friends and couples

Casa Colibrí has two floors and can accommodate up to 6 people (and a baby). On the first floor, you will find three bedrooms, two of which have access to the balcony, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. On the second floor, there is a very spacious living room designed for game nights. The main entrance is through a covered porch on the ground floor.

Discover the charm of our surroundings

Natural environment

With a small population of just 60 people, Rodezas is located in the municipality of Udías, just a few minutes from the best-preserved natural enclaves on the Cantabrian coast, such as the Cabezón de la Sal Redwood Natural Monument, the protected beaches of Oyambre and Gerra, and culturally significant villages such as Santillana del Mar and Comillas.

Activities

Casa Colibrí connects you with the mountains: several hiking trails through natural areas such as Monte Corona start from here. But it also brings you closer to the sea — just 15 minutes away you will find beautiful beaches such as Comillas — and family activities, such as the Santillana del Mar Zoo or Cabárceno Park, home to animals from all over the world. In addition, you can discover local history with excursions to nearby mines.

Culture

Discover ancient treasures such as El Soplao Cave and its geological stalactite formations, the medieval streets of San Vicente de la Barquera, Santillana del Mar and its iconic cave paintings (dating back more than 10,000 years), or the artistic, dreamlike and organic architecture of Gaudí’s Capricho in Comillas.

Gastronomy

If Cantabria stands out for anything, apart from its landscapes, it is for its excellent (and abundant) cuisine. Mountain stew, anchovies from Santoña, considered among the best in the world, sirloin steak with Tresviso cheese, wild boar (or venison) stews, intense-flavoured Cantabrian cheeses, sobaos pasiegos for those with a sweet tooth… There is something for everyone.

What do you think of Casa Colibrí?

“I stayed with my partner and two friends and we loved it! The house is very well located, the area is super quiet and close to everything, and you can walk to many hiking trails. I’ll miss the little balcony and drinking my coffee while the sun shines on my face. And the calm that you feel there. We’ll be back!”
