Gastronomy

If you come to Cantabria, get ready to enjoy cuisine that is generous in both quantity and quality. The dishes are hearty and among the best in Spain. We recommend trying typical specialities such as cocido montañés (mountain stew), squid rabas, anchovies from Santoña and sorropotún. And if you have a sweet tooth, save room for sobaos pasiegos (sponge cakes) or quesadas (cheese cakes).

Try the star dish of Cantabrian cuisine, cocido montañés (mountain stew) in Cabezón de la Sal, and sample lobster, barnacles and fish of the day in the coastal restaurants of Comillas and San Vicente de la Barquera. Whatever you choose, you’ll always be left with a good taste in your mouth.

La Riojana or La Mariuca, in Cabezón de la Sal, 6 km away.

El Tropezón, in Treceño, 10 km away.

La Caracola, in Comillas, 10 km away.

El Remedio, in Ruiloba, 11 km away.

Mesón La Cocina, in Roiz, 14 km away.

Boga-Boga, in San Vicente de la Barquera, 20 km away.
